Argon in the Atmosphere in Western Michigan07/25/2019It is well known that the air on Earth is comprised of multiple gases, oxygen and nitrogen being the two major gases. Yet Argon is another gas that is generally not as recognized as other atmospheric gases, however has proven itself to be equally important throughout numerous industries. Argon is an inert, neutral and odorless gas that only makes up about 1% of the Earth’s atmosphere. Even though the concentration of Argon is not as abundant as Nitrogen and Oxygen, it is consumed across multiple industries. In museums, Argon has traditionally been used for historic preservation. Historically important articles, including the Declaration of Independence and the Magna Carta, are preserved using Argon. Unlike Oxygen, Argon does not disintegrate the paper or ink of these, especially delicate texts. Argon is also used as a gas shield in the welding industry for arc welding. Given the many uses for this gas, there remains a constant demand for the substance. Because of this, specialty gases like Argon are on average sold in smaller sizes and vessels. PurityPlus carries only the purest of Argon and an assortment of other specialty gases. Visit our contact us page to learn more on the specialty gases we provide in Western Michigan.
